Leave93436.org is a registered California public-benefit nonprofit (EIN 39-3822308) focused on strengthening governance, safety, and long-term planning for the 93436 region. Our work spans multiple issues: local financial transparency, emergency preparedness, school preservation, zoning and land-use review, and public accountability. These challenges are larger than any one project — they reflect systemic problems requiring organized, community-driven action.
Residents of Vandenberg Village, Mission Hills, Mesa Oaks, and surrounding unincorporated areas may have recently received text-message surveys regarding local services or governance.
These surveys are being distributed while the City of Lompoc is seeking to expand its Sphere of Influence (SOI) into unincorporated communities north of the Santa Ynez River — before residents have been formally briefed on impacts, fiscal consequences, or alternatives.
Leave93436.org has already submitted a formal written objection to the Santa Barbara County Local Agency Formation Commission (LAFCO) opposing this proposed expansion. The objection documents existing service providers, financial risks, lack of outreach, and long-established boundaries separating these communities from the City of Lompoc.
Residents deserve full and accurate information before being asked for opinions.
